The Young Family’s long-standing passion for the Indiana Legal Community dates back to 1903 when Howard S. Young, Sr. started helping injured Hoosiers. After 40 years of practicing, Howard Sr. cemented his authority in the legal landscape as the 76th Justice of the Indiana Supreme Court, and the President of the Indianapolis Bar Association shortly after. The pinnacle of Howard’s legal experience came in 1954, though, when he stepped down from the Supreme Court and joined his son Howard Jr., to form Young & Young.
Like his father, Howard Jr.’s enduring experience in the legal community stems from 1946 when he began serving Hoosiers. After taking a brief pause in his practice to fight for his country as Naval Captain in WWII, Howard Jr. returned to Indianapolis to assist his father in bringing Young & Young to life. A true pioneer in Indiana law, Howard Jr. was a founding member of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, serving two terms as President. He was also President of the Indianapolis Bar Association from 1976-1977.
More than the titles, though, Howard Jr.’s true success in the field boils down to his character. Known as a “Lawyer’s Lawyer,” he was both a gentleman and a leader. He’s celebrated for his mentorship, guiding many lawyers who also went on to help Hoosiers in profound ways.
The iconic legacy of both Howard Sr. and Howard Jr. has continued through a long family lineage. Howard Jr. and his wife Mary have nine children. As a tribute to Mary and Howard, the six boys of the family earned their Eagle Scout Awards, making them one of the only handful of immediate families in the nation with Seven Eagle Scouts. All six boys also earned their law degrees and practiced with the family firm. Since then, the boys have claimed great credibility in the field: whether becoming a Marion County Superior Court Judge, President and Trial Lawyer of the Year, or President of the Indiana Trial Lawyers Association, the boys have aimed to maintain the highest standards set for them by Howard Sr., Howard Jr., and Mary.
Originally residing in the Circle Tower Building in downtown Indianapolis, the Young & Young Law Firm is now located on 128 N Delaware Street. The firm’s tradition remains true, strong and consistent: and links back to a family-oriented mentality. Young & Young is a firm committed to Hoosier families. Through tirelessly working to help those in need while turning back on those who stand in the way, Young & Young succeeds in bringing its slogan – “Our family law firm treats you like family” – to life. Not only have other Indianapolis lawyers simply heard of Young & Young, but they respect the firm’s drive to be that friend and family to both fellow attorneys and clients.
Since 1954, we at Young & Young have proudly advocated for our clients against those who have caused them injury through negligence. We believe that every case handled is a partnership with our clients, and therefore strive to ensure that they are fully informed at all times. With more than 110 years of experience practicing law, we have the skills, expertise and drive to help our clients maximize their compensation in the realm of: personal injury, insurance coverage disputes, medical malpractice, Social Security disability, construction accidents, wrongful death litigation, large trucking accidents, drunk driving crashes, highway accidents with semi-tractor trailers, or car & motorcycle accidents.
My husband was killed in a semi/private truck accident on January 4, 2011. Fred Crow came highly recommended and I hired him to take the case. He got a judgement for me of more than I could have dreamed which gave me peace of mind that if I had to do the rest of my life without my husband that at least financially I would be okay. I would highly recommend Mr. Crow.
